Back to school season can be stressful for many families. After a long time of keeping the kids busy, getting back into school routine can be quite a challenge. It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the things you have to do. Luckily, we have some great back to school organization ideas that will help you during the transition. With these back to school tips, your child will definitely be off to a great start of the school year!

Back to school organizing tips for families

Use weekly calendars

Getting kids ready to go back to school is not always an easy task. Agendas can be a great tool to keep you organized during the back to school transition. A great idea is to create your own (weekly) calendars to keep an overview of what you need to do for the week. You can stick the weekly calendar on to your fridge so the entire family has an overview of it.

Plan ahead with to-do lists

Even when you're a super organised parent, you may sometimes forget things. Don't worry! A simple to-do list can help you remember important things and keep your family organized. What time do you have to watch your son's soccer match? What time do you have to bring your daughter to her piano lesson? What items do you need to buy for grocery shopping? What things to pack for the family summer picnic? Put it all on the to-do list. Hang your to-do list on the wall to keep the tasks top of mind.

Reward charts

If your child is bored during the summer holiday, why not motivate them to help out at home with some chores, such as cleaning their room or watering the plants. You can also use it for other purposes like reading a book, playing an instrument. To motivate and inspire your child to do a certain task you can use a reward chart. It’s a great, playful way to motivate your child to complete certain chores. Reward charts work particularly well with toddlers and preschoolers, especially when you’re using sticker charts! Kids just love stickers!

Create a daily routine

Do you have trouble getting your child to follow a regular schedule? The key here is to create a consistent routine that helps you create order and structure throughout your day. For example, doing math after lunch, having playtime before dinner and reading a story together before bed. A daily routine benefits your children by providing them with a structured environment, since rapid changes in a child’s routine can cause anxiety and stress for both you and your child. Thus, establishing a summer routine is important, especially when your child is heading back to school. This way, it will be less stressful when your kids return back to school. Luckily it’s relatively easy to create one that your child is able to stick to.
